Most data leadership searches start wrong. The role gets scoped for who you wish you needed instead of who you actually need. Six months in, it's clear the fit isn't there, but by then you've paid $100k in salary and lost half a year of progress.I've been placing data talent for five years: strong senior ICs to Director-level leaders. I work on a small number of searches at a time where precision and judgment matter. How I work:
Founder-led, retained search. I take on a maximum of two searches at any one time to ensure focus and delivery. Candidates are exclusive to your search, never shared with other clients until they're out of your process.
Deep role scoping upfront. We map where you are in your data journey (early build, scaling infrastructure, driving adoption, or strategic maturity) and target leaders who've actually grown through that stage, not just read about it.
Single point of accountability. You work directly with me from kickoff to offer acceptance.
Early pushback when it matters. If the role is scoped wrong, your stakeholders aren't aligned, or expectations don't match market reality, I'll tell you in week one, not after we've wasted six weeks.
180-day guarantee. Performance and cultural alignment. If it doesn't work, we replace them at no additional fee.
What it costs:
$20,000 retainer. Balance due when your hire starts work.
Total fee: 30% of first-year compensation.
No milestone invoices. No payment at shortlist. I get paid when they show up.
